We all enjoyed an action – packed May in Scoil Iosagáin. Our pupils enjoyed GAA training with Esther. Our Junior Infant pupils were introduced to the game of hurling, while Senior Infants practiced and developed their impressive skills.
Senior Infants all visited Castle Park Playground, a trip we take a few times a year. This is a great favourite with the children and great for promoting physical health and development.
We celebrated Intercultural Day on May 20th. On a lovely sunny day, we all gathered in the school yard, a scene of wonderful colours and smells as our families wore their traditional dress, and treated us to the most delicious traditional dishes. We had wonderful music, dance and songs. We are very grateful to all families for their participation as it was a most enjoyable and memorable celebration.
We are very grateful to the local Gardaí who were very kind to us in May. They visited our Senior Infant classes and they spoke about all the ways they help people in our community. Garda John drove pupils to Piccolo Play Village in Cork on the Garda Community Bus.
Turbo the Tortoise spent a day in our school, and was a great hit!
Our pupils enjoyed their Integrated Play Theme which incorporated
Health Care, including Dental Hygiene and Doctor Visits. Children enjoyed brushing teeth on laminates and arranging Doctor Appointments for sick teddies, dolls etc.
Once again, we sincerely thank all families for their participation in our Cultural Celebration, and making it such a wonderful occasion for all our school community.
