June was an action-packed month in Scoil Íosagáin. We enjoyed a very successful Sports Day. Esther, our GAA coach joined us for the day, as well as a gymnastics coach Meghan. The children enjoyed lots of action filled activities which were non- competitive and adjusted to all levels of ability.
We had a wonderful in -school International Day , where students proudly represented their native countries. The array of dress and performances was most enriching.
The much-awaited school tours took place. The excitement was palpable. Our Junior Infants visited the local Fire Station, where they got the opportunity to sit in the fire engine, use water hoses and see how fire fighters respond to calls. They then proceeded to enjoy all facilities at Planet in Cork.
Our Senior Infants visited Grenagh Farm. They enjoyed viewing and petting animals, a tractor ride, go-carts, the playground, and the assault course which included zip lines.
As is customary in June we also held our Graduation Ceremony for our Senior Infants, joining other schools for the next academic year.
This was a lovely occasion, although bitter- sweet for our staff who have become so attached to these young students. However, they rose to the occasion with a wonder rendition of ‘All My Love’, `by Coldplay, and ‘Cover in in Sunshine,’, by Pink.
We look forward to a new intake of Junior Infants in the next academic year and hope that their journey with us in Scoil Íosagáin will be a very positive and fulfilling journey.
