January 2026

This year, our infant pupils had an action-packed start to the year! Our infants got moving with a gymnastics coach, learning balance, coordination and confidence through fun and safe activities. Tiny hands and feet were busy stretching, jumping, rolling and exploring new ways to move their bodies.

As well as their energetic gymnastics sessions, the children explored the Arctic themed integrated play experience.
From icy landscapes to penguin and polar bear explorations , our pupils used their imaginations to journey to the far north. They enjoyed adventures full of icy sensory play. They created igloos , snowflakes, penguins, Arctic foxes and reindeer to show case the North Pole.

Our little learners also discovered the world of 3D Shapes. From cubes to spheres , cones and cylinders , pupils explored these shapes through hands on activities and creative play.

Spheres and cylinders were rolled, sorted and compared , helping children to understand curves versus edges. Children used blocks and soft shapes to build towers , learning how cubes and cuboids fit together.

Through these playful experiences , pupils develop spatial awareness , problem solving and fine motor skills , while having fun with shapes in their every – day environment.

We look forward to a busy and exciting year in Scoil Iosagáin, as our young pupils continue to grow and develop.
