April 2026

This month we welcomed local sporting heroes to our school. Mallow United Special Olympics Team visited our school, showcasing their achievements and awards across a range of sports. These athletes will represent Munster at the  Special Olympics Irish  Games in Dublin in June. We wish all our athletes the very best of luck in their endeavours.

We held our Open Day this month. We showcased our commitment to  creativity and innovation, using our outdoor classroom to develop all aspects of each child’s development and specific areas of competence. In this area children experiment, discover, construct and explore in an environment free from classroom restraints. It promotes STEM development, fostering inquiry- based learning. These activities promote physical development, social skills, emotional wellbeing, positive habits and creativity and exploration.

We had circuits in our gym, focussed on physical skills designed to promote  a child’s overall development. We also took advantage of the fine weather wherein children read and did craft and physical activities outdoors.

Our Aistear theme for April was Spring on the Farm. Children built farm buildings and learned all about farm machinery and crops. They learned about farm animals and how farmers provide milk for our dairy products, vegetables and crops for our bread and cereals.

We look forward to a busy May, when we celebrate Culture Day, a hugely popular occasion in our school.
