January brought lots of winter weather, which meant we spent longer time at home.
When we got back to school, Michelle, our gymnastics coach, joined us every Wednesday for six weeks. All our pupils really enjoyed the hopping, jumping, rolling, tumbling etc.
In February we celebrated Grandparents Day. This is always a special day in our school calendar. Grandparents gather in our school hall to enjoy a coffee and cake together. Fr. Damien speaks to our grandparents about the importance of their role and the blessing of grandchildren. A special prayer is recited for all grandparents.
This is followed by a visit to their grandchildren’s’ classroom. Here they are treated to a class performance by our young pupils, which includes songs, poems, music and dance.
Grandparents are also invited to perform if they wish. We have enjoyed wonderful displays of traditional Irish Music, singing, set – dancing and traditional Irish crafts such as knitting and weaving. Grandparents also answer questions about their schooldays.
Love was also very much in the air as we celebrated Valentine’s Day. Our pupils were busy crafting hearts and flowers for the special people in their lives,
