We had a very busy month in Scoil Iosagáin. All our pupils enjoyed rugby training with their coach in our outdoor areas. We will later have our GAA coach Esther, who will introduce our pupils to early football and hurling skills. We regularly use the skills of sports coaches to enhance the development of sports skills in our young pupils. This is always based on fun and games, without the element of competition and is greatly enjoyed by all.

Our Senior Infant Classes enjoyed Autumn Walks in The Castle Grounds, where they collected autumn leaves and seeds for the Nature Table. They also visited the playground, and enjoyed all the facilities, particularly the zip–line and the fort slide,

Our Integrated  Play topic included homes and our pupils created wonderful igloos, houses, yurts and boats with solid and paper materials. For Halloween the children created some potent spells, using mostly spaghetti, and recorded their ingredients. We read ‘Winnie the Witch’ and ‘Room on a Broom’, classic children’s books.

We also celebrated Halloween with a Pumpkin Parade, with fabulous pumpkin designs created by our pupils. We had a dress–up day on the day of the holidays where our school was filled with superheroes,  witches, cats, pumpkins, astronauts, skeletons, vampires and comic characters. We did the Skeleton  Dance and sang ‘Five Little Pumpkins’. We also performed some Irish songs such as ‘Cailleach, Cailleach.’
