We had a lovely start to February marking the feast day of St. Brigid. Our great local supporter, Benjie Hallihan, former teacher, Gaelgeoir, singer, musician – I could go on – joined us, once again to mark the occasion. He made 3 types of St. Brigid’s crosses from rushes while telling the children about St. Brigid and singing the Irish song ‘Anois Teacht an Earraigh’, to celebrate the arrival of Spring.
We also celebrated Grandparents’ Day, which is a special day in our calendar each year. While grandparents of local children attended, others brought in photographs, celebrating the link between grandparents and their grandchildren, regardless of circumstance or situation. They told us all about their school days, the children told them what they liked about their school, as well as performing songs and poems.
And finally love was in air on February 14th, as well as tasty pancakes being Ash Wednesday. The artistic creations to celebrate love for all were touching. Hearts and roses decked the halls as children expressed their love for family and friends.
Our teachers, Ms. Murphy and Ms. Kelly, determined to get all school community fit and active initiated a Step Into Spring Walking Challenge. We are doing well, having fun, getting fit and enjoying the challenge.
